SG 55 1847
The
paper was Dickinson 'silk' thread paper (two vertical threads 5 mm apart)
which can be clearly seen on the stamp above. The embossing can also be
clearly seen on this superb scan. The design is based on the
Wyon City Medal -
1837, primary die engraved by William Wyon who has his initials ww engraved at
the base of the neck.
