plate number 1
SG 129

Compare this to the issued stamp SG 129
The plate number (1) has been replaced by an ornament bottom centre.
The watermark is definitely Maltese Cross
This stamp was not issued and may be a forgery
Any further info on this unlisted stamp would be appreciated

The nearest I have seen to this is a Prince Albert "stamp" in the R M Phillips collection
Vol XXXVI page 10 the plate number is also replaced by an ornament.

Note: Albert is looking to the right, on all GB stamps the monarch looks to the left (before 1937).
The Downey heads (1911) were three quarters left profile, but were changed to left profile.

You can see the original stamp with corner letters CJ as issued in this pane from the R M Phiillip's collection. It has a "1" not an "ornament".

Image source British Postal Museum from the R M Phillips Collection. Voll XXXVI Pg 34.

It could be an unissued 1 Pound (SG 184 ?), compare with the 10/- of 1883 (SG 183) which does have an ornament.

one pound forgery
SG 183                                                                               SG 184?

I have not found any evidence for this from the R M Phillips collection
