After Queen Victoria died on 22 Jan 1901 the new king Edward VII (b1841) reigned until 6 May 1910. The new stamps for his reign were not issued until Jan 1 1902. The designs are mostly the same as the previous Jubilee issue, except the ½d, 1d, 2½ and 6d use a new design, the 7d is a new value. After King Edward came King George V These were printed by De La Rue & Co in 1902-10, in 1911 the printing was carried out by Harrison & Sons, and in 1911-13 printing was done at Somerset House who printed the 1½d to £1 values. The ½d and 1d king George V Downey heads were issued in 1911. |
