Edmund Dulac 1882-1953
Stamp Designs

A tribute to Edmund Dulac (he designed more stamps than I show here)
He came from France to England in 1904, he became a British subject in 1912
He is more popularly known as a book illustrator.
Perhaps he should be compared to another French stamp designer who came to
England and engraved the die for the first surface printed
4d stamp of
1855. Jean Ferdinand Joubert de la Ferté
(1810-1884) a refugee from Napoleonic France who died two years after Edmund
Dulac was born.
