• *Stanley Gibbons Great Britain Specialised Stamp Catalogue Vol 1: Queen Victoria 15th ed. 2008 (new edition every ~2-4 years) a "Must Have" for the QV specialist

• Collect British Postmarks: The Handbook to British Postal Markings and Their Values, J.T.P. Whitney,

• *GB Concise useful as a handy reference, useful if you do not want to become too specialised or if you just want updated catalogue values (new edition every year)

Historical info

• * Robson Lowe. The British Postage Stamp of the nineteenth century, 1968 Vera Trinder Ltd (This is an excellent book both for historical info and pictures of rare Victorian stamps), it catalogues much of the R M Phillips collection Amazon UK

• *Rikki C Hyde. Great Britain Numbers Issued 1840-1910 by Vera Trinder Ltd (this is a very interesting little book, I highly recommend it, I found it most useful)

• *Beaumont & Easton. The Postage Stamps of Great Britain. Part 3. (1964 edition). Embossed and surface printed (QV and KEVII), : (this contains sheet and pane marginal markings of surface-printed stamps as well as the current number), Vera Trinder Ltd Published by RPSL, Amazon UK

• Marcus Samuel and Alan Huggins. Specimen stamps and stationary of Great Britain Photos B & W, interesting photos of the letters sent to postmasters with the specimen stamps. Vera Trinder Ltd Published by GBPS, Amazon UK
