Site started on 25 Sep 1998
Site size: There are ~ 1600+ 800x600 images, plus another 237 600x480 images, plus another 200 scans of stamps. The total size is over 220 MB. The monthly download rate is about 10 GB, with ~25,000 visitors/month (April 2002). The site is hosted by Yahoo! Website Services who charge me $30 a month including the domain name.
Ftp uploading: The files were uploaded to the web server using CuteFTP version 4.0 ($35)
Equipment: Camera Canon AE-1 with 28-70mm Sigma lens, film Kodachrome 64, scanner Epson FilmScan 200. Now I tend to use negative film and have the Processor scan them for me on to CD.
Editing: I have sharpened most of the landscape photos and I have mucked about with some of the people pics. I have used 75% JPEG compression which seems about right for the web. Best viewed with 800 x 600 and 16 M colours. Later uploads use higher resolution.
Thumbnails and image web pages created using the excellent Thumbs+Plus 3.20 which is also great for cataloging and editing large image collections.
HTML editing carried out using HoTMetal Pro 5.0
The site is listed by Yahoo which is where most of my visitors come from.
The photographs were taken between about 1975 to 2002, most are 1990-95 (India, Bali, Grand Circle).
